Shri M. Thennarasan presents Surat Municipal Corporation Budget of Fiscal year 2017-2018

Surat Municipal Commissioner. Shri M. Thennarasan proposes the Budget of 5,638 crores for the fiscal year 2017-18.

SMC budget 2017-18 5638 crores, 321 crores more than previous years budget.
Tax revenue for the fiscal year 2017-18 is estimated to be 1,254 crores.
The property tax revenue is likely to be 1,047 crores..
296 crores for Capital works, works related to bridge.
348 crores for Road development.
447 crores for Housing.
492 crores for Town Planning.
278 crores for Smart city development.
3100 crores for Capital Expenditure.

All Bridges to undergo beautification process.
Construction of Martyr’s and Heroic’s Memorial in the city.
Construction of Sales center for selling agricultural products.
Construction of Transit accommodation for Floating labours.
Purchasing of Boom Monitor along with water browser for the fire department.

38 stations allocated on the 40 km long metro line in the first phase of metro rail project. The budget proposed for metro rail project is 6.50 crores.
42 km High Mobility Corridor allocated for Mass transportation.
No increment in taxes, User charge or in vehicle tax.
A cycling highway from SVNIT to Dumas.
Special Attention is given to IT initiatives to complete the dream of Digitize Surat.
Special efforts are made so most of the city residents use the digital methods of transactions.
To ease out the problem related to traffic and parking, special steps would be taken.
