Shivaji’s Statue To Be Re-Installed At Sahara Darwaja

Thousands of Maharastrians living in the Diamond City were disappointed on seeing the giant statue of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj tilt to one side after earth caved in at Sahara Darwaja during the rains on Wednesday.

The Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti has decided to re-install the statue at some other location in the city. The statue was slightly damaged after its foundation caved in.

Hundreds of people thronged the spot to witness the statue of Shivaji Maharaj being safely shifted to the municipal corporation’s warehouse at Umarwada.

C R Paatil, BJP MP from Navsari and treasurer of Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti, said, “The statute has been safely removed from the spot and kept at the warehouse of the municipal corporation. We are yet to decide on the new venue, but the spot at Bombay Market in the city is the ideal location for re-installing it.

The committee members will decide on the re-installation of the statute of Shivaji Maharaj. We have started the process to seek land from the municipal corporation in this regard.”
